Ministry of Finance Media Release – COVID-19 Tax Measures
On 31 March, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Tonateni Shidhudhu, issued the Ministry’s first official correspondence related to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on tax administration. In line with the national measures to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry will ensure the continuity of essential tax services during the lockdown period.

On 31 March, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Tonateni Shidhudhu, issued the Ministry’s first official correspondence related to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on tax administration. In line with the national measures to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry will ensure the continuity of essential tax services during the lockdown period.
Among others, one of the measures confirmed by the Ministry of Finance is the deadline extension to file PAYE reconciliations. The deadline to submit annual PAYE reconciliation is extended from 31 March 2020 to 30 May 2020. Other measures, such as the continuation of VAT refund/tax audits are also explained and a comprehensive list of contact numbers are provided should taxpayers wish to contact the regional managers of their respective tax offices.
